THE POWER OF LOVE CHURCH

The Stronghold of Faith

Feb 20, 2025    Pastor Sandy Garcia

Faith is essential in a believer's life—sourced in God's Word and requiring action to yield results. Abraham is called the Father of our faith, his obedience serving as a model for us in living a life by faith. True blessings come from active faith demonstrated through obedience.

Definition of Stronghold

- A stronghold is defined as a fortified place or fortress.

- Zechariah 9:12 God's safety or strength includes blessing and reward.

God's Word brings light and revelation. Faith begins with hearing God's Word but requires action for effectiveness (James 2:17).

Abraham's Faith as Our Example

1. Obedience

- Genesis 12:1-8 God commanded Abraham to leave his homeland; he obeyed without hesitation.

- Obedience does not require confirmation or feelings; it should be immediate.

2. Covenant with God

- Genesis 17:1-9 Circumcision was commanded by God; Abraham obeyed immediately without questioning.

3. Difficult Decisions

- Genesis 21: Commanded to send away Hagar and Ishmael; again, he acted promptly early in the morning.

True belief must result in corresponding actions.. that is faith (John 8:39).

Rewards for Obedience

1. Divine Wisdom

- Matthew 7:24-27 highlights wise builders who obey God's teachings versus foolish ones who do not.

2. Miracles Through Obedience

- John 2 recounts Jesus turning water into wine when servants obey His mother’s instruction.

3. Prosperity Linked with Obeying Commands

- Joshua 1:8 states success comes from meditating on and acting upon God's law.

Warnings Against Disobedience

- Disobedience nullifies blessings despite verbal affirmations (Isaiah 1:19).

We must not only to hear but also act upon our faith through obedience, which will lead us into all that God has promised us—a prosperous life filled with divine favor and miracles based on actions aligned with His Word [obedience to the Word].
